Not So Secret Santa cover reveal – Men of London #10

Are YOU ready for the return of this sassy diva with a huge heart? I’m really excited to show the sweet and ever so seasonal cover for book 10 in the Men of London series. #coverreveal #MenOfLondon #LeslieisBack #sassyrocks
You can buy this short, sweet and sassy novella here

Leslie’s feeling the season in a big way. After the Kissmas Drag Stravaganza at Club Delish, he plans to ask Oliver to marry him, but, as with all things Leslie, nothing goes quite as planned.

THE MAIN EVENT

Leslie Scott couldn’t keep a secret if his life depended on it…and this one’s a doozy. After years of blissful co-habbing, Leslie plans to ask the love of his life, Oliver Brown, for his hand in marriage. Leslie agrees to help with the Kissmas Drag Stravaganza at his dear friend’s nightclub, Club Delish, which is also the site of the impending proposal. Every detail is planned with Swiss watch precision: enjoy the show, bring Oliver back to a private room, seduce him then pop the question. But, as with all things Leslie, his scheme goes tits up. Never one to shy away from drama and public displays of affection, this proposal turns out to be one for the books.

2018- My Year Ahead

2017 was an amazing year in some respects, and awful in others, both from a personal standpoint and a world view. I’m not one to dwell on what’s been before, because I believe it’s self-defeating. Instead, I focus on the future and live day to day, because, honestly, that’s all any of us can do.

To my amazing publisher, Boroughs, the readers of my books, the bloggers that helped me throughout the year, the organisers of the events I attended, my fellow authors who consoled and supported me, my family who kept me sane, and everyone in my life who touched it, however briefly – thank you. I treasure each and every one of you and I hope your 2018 is as good as mine is going to be. If I can do anything to help in that regard, all you must do is ask and I’ll be there.

#Project1 and some news

Living on Air release. I anticipate this being out late February, but I’ll confirm dates when I can. Chris Talbot, how’s that cover shot doing? ♥ Cary and Rhys are waiting….

I’m hoping to produce seven new books in the next eighteen months. I have contracts for them all already, so I guess I’d better keep moving and get those fingers tapping on a keyboard.

There could be some good news too about other things in the works, but I’ve been asked by my publisher to keep mum on it until something pans out. Sorry to be so sketchy but I’d hate to say too much. It involves book fairs…

I’m planning a visit to the Facebook office in London to present the LGBTQ petition once I’ve finalised everything and anyone that wants to come with me is more than welcome. We can make a day out of it, ending with coffee, drinks and talk about books and life in general.  https://www.change.org/p/susan-mac-nicol-equal-facebook-standards-applied-to-lgbtqi-community/

#Project2

I’m co-writing with Author M Tasia from Boroughs Group Publishing. She’s the author of the wonderful Boys of Brighton series.  Our story is set in Toronto, Canada and promises intrigue, shmexy times, humour and a constant war of words between two very head strong and stubborn men. I’m not sure yet when the planned release date for this will be. Head over to her page, give it a like and you’ll have double the chance of spotting the updates ?

https://www.facebook.com/mtasiabooks/

#Project3

Nicholas and I will have concluded the ‘final- final’ edits (lol, we all know this old story, there’s always bloody edits to be done) to the screenplay for Sight Unseen and we’ll start looking for competitions and festivals to submit it to. We’re hoping this will be in February 2018 too.

#Project4-7

This is the big one. This will be the spin off series from Feat of Clay, book 4 in the Men of London series featuring Clay Mortimer, former SAS soldier, and Tate Williams, ex drug squad policeman. These four books in the new series will focus on something rather different from what I’ve written before (I’m not spilling the beans yet) and will focus on the investigative agency they both work in. You can expect murder, mayhem, blackmail, and some rather disturbing characters…not to mention some eye widening situations and unusual plot lines. This series will be a whole lot of fun and both men are about to be catapulted into a world they knew existed, but didn’t expect to meet so up close and personal.

#Project8

I’m planning on bringing Louis’s story to life at the end of 2018, in a Christmas seasonal special which will make a tenth (a shorter novella) Men of London book. You may remember Louis from Survival Game- the gambler who lost it all and managed to bring himself up from the gutter. We’ll learn more about him and his new love interest – no less than rock star Callum Webster whom we met in Hard Climate, Ryan’s man crush. There will have been some time elapsing between the books to allow Callum a little time to mature but I’m hoping it will work out between them.

All in all, it’s going to be a very busy time and I hope you journey with me, and enjoy the time we have together. All the best for the year ahead. The times, they are a-changing……

Survival Game – Men of London #9

The latest book in my Men of London series will be available on September 7th. This story took a while, I struggled getting it to all gel together. I hope I did it justice.

If you read Hard Climate, you’ll remember Kyle Tripper, Ryan’s feisty manager at Club Delish, and Eric Kirby, the paramedic who came to the club one tonight to assist a man having a heart attack- and even went on a date with Ryan once.  Kyle and Eric were quite taken with each other even then and in this book, they get to know each other a little better…

What’s it all about, you ask?

Since his true love died, paramedic Eric Kirby has been living a half life, but when he meets purple-haired Kyle Tripper, Eric’s heart is jolted into a whole new rhythm.

HANDLE…

Kyle Tripper has led an interesting life. Currently the manager of London’s famous Club Delish, he used to be a croupier extraordinaire in Las Vegas. But not everything in that life was so glamorous; his ex was a piece of work. Now gun-shy, Kyle hopes there is someone special out there for him, and secretly wishes it’s luscious paramedic, Eric Kirby.

WITH CARE

Every day Eric Kirby goes through the motions. Yeah, he saves lives, and, sure, he makes a difference, but he doesn’t feel it anymore – not since he lost his one true. But, when he meets wild, flamboyant Kyle Tripper and learns there’s a skittish, apprehensive man beneath the bold façade, the best of Eric’s protective nature kicks in, and opens his heart to a new love.

What am I up to right now?

I thought it was about time I did an update on what’s going on in my life right now. You might not give a fig (LOL) but it’s nice to get it out there anyway. I’m told authors need to keep their profile fresh and ‘vibey’ so maybe this will help rekindle the love for my books and make me that million I’ve always wanted.

First on my list of bucket things to do was my recent trip to LA to meet my publisher, Boroughs Publishing Group, and writing partner, actor Nicholas Downs. I’m not going to say too much about it here because you can read all about here

https://www.divinemagazine.biz/my-la-experience-the-trip-of-a-lifetime/

Suffice it to say it was the best trip of my life and I intend having more of them. Hence the need to make that million.

I came away from that adventure with contracts for six books from now until the end of 2018. I hope to get back to publishing a new book every 3-4 months. I’ve slacked off with writing due to other pressures I’d had but now’s the time to pull up my big girl pants, stope eating and sleeping, forget I have a family and a day job, and get those words written.

Those books are the ninth Men of London book, ‘Survival Games’ featuring Kyle Tripper, Vegas croupier and nightclub manager, and Eric Kirby, paramedic, from Hard Climate. It’s the story of two survivors -one of spousal abuse, the other of losing a lover he couldn’t save.

Then there’s the eagerly anticipated ‘Living on Air’ (oh, is that just me? Right then…) This is a stand -alone novel depicting a psychotic paedophile priest (try saying that three times quickly), an abused youth turned man who finds solace in self-harming, and hides away as an aerialist in a circus, and a world-weary war photographer who wants to find the beauty in life again instead of cruelty and death. Bring these last two together and it’s a little like the witches’ boiling pot in Macbeth-

‘Double, double, toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble.’ Sparks will fly, blood will spill, emotions will run at fever point – oh and did I mention there’s clowns? Sorry to all you coulrophobics out there. I can give you some solace though -it isn’t IT.

Lastly for now, I’m writing a new spin off series from the Men of London book, ‘Feat of Clay’ featuring Clay Mortimer, former SAS operative, and Tate Williams, undercover DEA cop. Personally, I think this was one of my most under rated books. I adore this cover out of all my MOL covers, and the fact this was a story based on an existing relationship made it special to me. The chaps are coming back in a new series called Fetish Alley. It’s going to be sassy, funny, tongue in cheek madness with a mystery spin and of course, two hot men and their relationship. And yes, the word ‘fetish’ is exactly what it means. But you’ll have to stick around to find exactly what it’s all about. Tate’s education in weird is about to get very intense.

I’m also toying with the idea of a short Leslie and Oliver story, if I can stop breathing long enough to write it. (My take on this is that I’ve given up everything else and this is all I have left.) I want to write about Leslie and his new corset range with Debussy Fashion and how he makes Oliver his muse and model. Imagine Oliver in a corset and high heels. Teamed with the feisty Leslie, this would be one spectacular sight.

I’ve also been extremely busy with Divine Magazine well. Being Editorial Manager is a lot of hard work. I can say though that I‘ve been privileged to meet, speak to and interview some wonderful people like David Booher, whom I had the pleasure of having dinner with in LA,  and Scott McGlynn, who has the most lovely Welsh accent. I’m also talking to Guillaume Sanchez who’s a fascinating character. All of these interviews will be featured soon.

As for The Being Me Campaign, of which I’m a Board Trustee, we’ve been busy behind the scenes building up what’s needed for 2017. I’m co-ordinating a wonderful charity anthology with Louis Harris from CoolDudes Publishing where sales of this book will benefit the charity. My story, ‘Strawberry Kisses’ has been submitted. I’d like to thank all the authors who are working with us on this for contributing their time and effort to help out the charity.

On a non-writing note, I’m off to South Africa with my husband and daughter to see family from 1-14th May. I’ll be in Cape Town and the West Cape so it’s going to be epic. Sun, sea, sand, wine, beer and family.

I’m at shiMMer in July, Brighton Pride in August, going to Dublin with a friend in September and hopefully then the travelling stops for a bit.

And I think I’ve said enough. I will leave you with this picture……I’m sure you’ll fit right in.

Have you met Laverne?

Some of you may know Laverne Debussy-Smith, fashion designer extraordinaire. I had the pleasure of meeting up with her recently for a short interview. She was on her way to Frankfurt for a fashion show.

ctb-pic-1

Me: Thank you for meeting with me Laverne. I love your shoes!

Laverne nods head regally, but she has a wicked sparkle in her eye.

“Thank you, chicken. I’m rather partial to them myself. They’ve been used in some interesting…positions.”

Laverne winks at me and I feel myself flush.

Wonderful, let’s get started on the questions then.

collage-6

Me: As a businesswoman could you ever see yourself taking over Alan Sugar’s role on The Apprentice?

Laverne: Oh, my God, no. That man is one nasty piece of work and I have no intention of aspiring to be such an a-hole. However, give me a bevy of naked men parading around trying to sell me their new business ideas on fashion and I might consider having my own show. ‘Laverne Does Britain’, how’s that for a title?

Have you and Brook had any more moments like that backstage at Club Delish?

Laverne fans herself but that naughty twinkle in her eyes is still there.

“How on earth did you hear about that -were there hidden cameras in that damn room? I wouldn’t put it past that cheeky Ryan to have those to record his own dalliances in there with the delicious Mango. I’d pay to see those snippets…but darling, don’t you know a lady never kisses and tells?”

She blows a kiss at me, like Marilyn Munro. I feel oddly privileged to have been treated to one of them.lenny_laverne

Me: Have you met Brook’s parents yet?

Oh God, yes. It was the most nerve wracking experience of my life. I was throwing up for two days before we went there. I shouldn’t have worried. Dianne and Harry were absolutely charming and I can see where Brook gets his poise and good looks from. I made a bit of a fool myself over the snacks but then I’m used to ribs in a bucket, not that fancy cuisine they like to serve.

What is the best piece of advice Leslie has ever given to you?

“Ahh, my favourite little chicken. “ Laverne sighs fondly. “He told me to get my head out of my arse and consider following the path of true love.” Laverne grins. “That wasn’t quite how it turned out, from my side anyway, but it all worked out for the best. Of course, that meeting in my office added five years onto my life, it was one of the most surreal experiences ever. And I’ve had a few of those.”

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2017?

Laverne rolls her eyes. “Sweetheart, no one sticks to those bloody things. The minute the first week of January is over, if not sooner, everyone goes back to their old tricks and all good intentions are forgotten” She smirks. “And I’m not one for good intentions. I prefer the bad kind.”

I want to curtsy as she stands up to leave to catch her plane. I close off the interview with a handshake and a sniff of Laverne’s entrancing perfume

Well, as always, it’s been a pleasure. Thanks so much for coming down and answering my questions. And do pass my regards onto Leslie and Oliver. Tell them I’ll be in touch soon.

On The Boil

I haven’t blogged for a while so I thought it was time to let you all know what’s going on in my writing life right now.

Typewriter

  2. #IAmWriting
  3. #IAmPromoting
  4. #IAmOnSocialMedia
  5. #RealLifeIsInterferingwith1234

The story of my life in 5 short hashtags actually. But it’s okay, I love the pressure. I have a lot going on in my writing life at present, which is defined as anything that’s come about through my writing of sexy books. I’m still bowled over by what my life is like now, compared to what is was before 2012, which is when I started writing ‘professionally’. So much has happened and it’s a little dream- like.

I’ve got one book in edits at the moment with my publisher. This story is titled Sight Unseen and it’s a collaboration effort with well-known LA actor Nicholas Downs. He had the original story idea and a screenplay, and I developed it into a novel. The release date for this one is 29 November.  If you fancy participating in the 3-day release blitz click here

The most exciting fact about this book is that it’s been specially written with the idea of turning it into a screen-play in 2017 to get the story to film. Nicholas and I will be writing this together and I’m thrilled with the idea.

You can check out our progress on our Facebook page or on Twitter @SightUnseenPR. Follow us on Instagram @sightunseenla

Next, I’m working on the ninth Men of London book. It’s called Survival Game and features Kyle Tripper, the quirky Club Delish nightclub manager and ex Las Vegas casino dealer and Eric Kirby, a London paramedic with his own demons. I’m thrilled that I’m being guided by a real life London paramedic as part of my book research. He’s been awesome in telling me everything I need to know and I may even get to go on an observation shift with him to see first-hand how things are done. I’ve been in an ambulance as a patient before so it would be nice simply to be an observer. I’ll keep you posted on that one. I don’t have a release date for this one at the moment.

I’m also trying to finish Living on Air, my rather emotional and dark story set in a circus and featuring a very tormented aerialist. I intend self-publishing this one although another publishing house is interested in it. They can offer me access into book stores so it’s something to think about. Once it’s written, I’ll take stock of the options.

I’ve also written around 40k on a YA/NA fantasy book (I haven’t quite decided exactly which one yet), with two fine questing, coming of age heroes, imaginary worlds, wizards, talking doors, magical fish, and a very nasty villainess who does gross things. I started writing this when I was seventeen and kept it going over the years but never finished it. I really want to though. Perhaps with a fellow writing collaborator? Who knows.

unnamed-65

I have so many plot bunnies on the boil, I’m not sure I’ll manage to do them all. I’d love to write a gritty thriller series featuring Clay and Tate from Feat of Clay. I have an idea for a steam punk, Gothic horror type romance based on a very well know classic horror story. I have another series idea featuring hotels around the world and a lot of intrigue and deception. I’ve also got a rock star book in mind, one with a difference. I just need to be cloned so I can write them all.

As part of my writing, I’ve met some incredible people and got involved with some very worthwhile causes. One of them is me being a charity trustee for the Being Me Campaign –

http://www.beingmecampaign.com/get-involved/

If you’d like to upload a video for us on what makes you, you, please follow this link for the easy instructions

I think that’s it for now, no doubt the list will grow and I’ll end up needing to run off somewhere, breathe and focus. For now though, I’m trundling along hoping that it all comes to fruition….

Eco-warrior Mango Manning must shake the demons of his past to win back London nightclub owner Ryan Bishop, who is suddenly facing issues of his own.

WITH BOTH HANDS

Brawny, beautiful, complicated and sexy as hell, eco-warrior Mango Manning is everything performer and London nightclub owner Ryan Bishop wants in a life-partner. But Mango has been loving and leaving Ryan for the past two years, and Ryan’s had enough. That’s why he’s moving on. Ryan’s the monogamous type—which means now he’ll be alone at the worst possible time.

Mango Manning knows he’s screwed up and has commitment issues. That’s why he’s been so on-and-off with Ryan these past two years. He’d thought he found a safe haven, a place to hide from the losses of his past, but there are other demons you just can’t escape. Like Ryan’s health. If Mango is to put things right, he must man up and discover a way back into Club Delish and the heart of its owner. Only then can they look to the future together, come what may. True happiness will slip through their fingers…unless they both grab on and hold tight.

Excerpt

“You have got to be fucking kidding me.”

Ryan gulped down the remains of his Heavenly Hawaiian Kona Coffee and stormed over to his front door. He was as pissed off that he’d wasted a mouthful of expensive and exclusive coffee as he was with Mango, who stood at the entrance to his building being an insistent pest.

After the first buzz of the doorbell, Ryan had checked the security camera to determine who his visitor was. When he’d seen it was Mango, he’d ignored the bastard. Mango obviously didn’t have the keys he’d been given for Ryan’s flat and Club Delish in case of emergencies.

The buzzer had gone again. And again. Each time Mango lay on the bell longer than before. The fourth time it sounded, Ryan was ready to commit murder. The overwhelming desire to punch Mango’s lights out was, however, accompanied with an instant body tingle at the sight of his lover. Ryan knew this moment had been coming but he still wasn’t prepared for what he needed to do.

He flung the door open and put his hands on his hips. “You’ve got a fucking nerve,” he growled as Mango smiled hesitantly at him.

“Sorry for the buzzing and knocking.” Mango waved a tanned hand. “I didn’t have my keys with me.”

Ryan’s temper got the better of him. “It’s been six fucking weeks. Haven’t you got a whale to save or a bat to protect? Maybe visiting a whole rain forest of pygmy dwarves and their habitat? I know I have nothing here that might pique your eco-warrior interest so you may as well piss off.” Part of Ryan hoped Mango might do as he was told and postpone the pain for another day.

“Hello to you too, babe.” Mango raised one eyebrow. Ryan had to admit each time he did that it was as sexy as hell. And Mango knew it. “Pygmy dwarves?” Mango drawled, with amusement. “I had that particular excursion a few months ago, remember?”

“Don’t call me babe.” Mango’s smile faltered as Ryan took the comment and ran with it. “And I remember the whole pygmy dwarves scenario very well. It was the night you left me at dinner sitting alone like some pathetic man waiting for his date because you had an urgent plane to catch.”

Mango looked a little abashed but Ryan hadn’t finished. He waggled his index finger in Mango’s face. “Oh, wait, I remember now, the pathetic man waiting for a date was me. Because his date-to-be decided he had more important places to go.” Ryan took a deep breath, willing his ever-fiery drama queen to stay on the down-low. The throb in his temples signalled a low-grade headache coming on.

Mango held out a hand in a ‘whoa, stop’ gesture. “Ryan, I explained about that. The only plane out to the North Congo was the one I had to catch. They’d grounded a whole load because of some rainstorm coming in. It was the only way to get in and out of the conservation area.” He grinned faintly. “And for the record, you call them pygmies, not pygmy dwarves.”

Carefully constructed break-up plan forgotten, Ryan’s temper combusted at Mango’s teasing. “What-the-fuck-ever,” he exploded and slammed the door right in Mango’s face. He only wished Mango’s nose had been closer so he could have had the pleasure of hearing it break.

You can check out all the books in the series at this link – the Men of London (Amazon UK) or the Men of London (Amazon.com)

What people are saying about the series so far-

Men of London is a series about different men, from all walks of life, living in London and living their lives. They all have nothing in common with each other but the stories are interconnected in one way or another.

I’m loving this series, I really am! Eddie, Gideon, Taylor, and Draven all play a part here, and for that I am eternally grateful! I love we get to catch up with them as well as delving into the fashion and porn world.

Soooooooo awesome. Seriously, you can never go wrong with Susan’s books. They’re like a romp through a broken heart’s dreams and then kisses to make it all better.

Another terrific pairing of two mismatched but ultimately destined to be together Men of London. This series just gets better and better…

Susan Mac Nicol has a way with words, and her Men of London are just another reason I want to jump in a plane and plan a trip…….I want to find these guys and hug them all, and never let go. Thank you Susan for writing such a wonderful book, one that will be read over, and over again.

I love that this series intersects the lives of these couples. You fall in love with them and even though you don’t get full information you still get little snippets of their lives in the next book.

Men of London brings new and interesting relationships with every instalment. Yet somehow, your favorites from previous books are all there and their circle of friends keeps expanding. It’s a smart way to link the series and keep fans close to their earlier character crushes.
