Blurb

Touched by tragedy, love is an elusive dream never to be realised by eighteen-year-old Jax Grady–until he discovers his secret admirer and receives the sweetest gift he could ever desire.

THE SWEETEST GIFT

Tragedy and horror shaped Jackson Grady’s life, leaving him orphaned and scarred. At eighteen he’s ready to claim his future, but who could love his disfigured face and damaged soul? Definitely not a big, burly, beautiful Irish Traveller who is entirely the stuff of dreams.

Dare Rowan didn’t mean to become obsessed with the blue-eyed man he first saw across a field, but that porcelain skin and innocent air demanded another meeting. Jax has the face of a wounded angel, and the rest of the young man is as heart-breakingly perfect. Jax is beautiful in every way and teaching him about love and life will be something Dare will embrace. Like unwrapping and savouring the candy at the shop where he works, Dare will show this young man everything Jax desired but never thought he’d have, and take Jax to new highs while he holds him through the lows. Between them, they’ll find out just how sweet life can be.

“Who’s there?” he called out. Jax hated the slight quaver in his voice, not wanting to appear defenceless to a potential burglar. “I can hear you, so no use hiding. Just tell me what you want here. Or get the fuck out of my home.”

He wouldn’t tip his hand, telling the burglar he had a weapon. Let the bastard find out for himself, he thought grimly. The scuffling noise stopped and now all Jax could hear was someone’s steady breathing.

Jax stood straight and tall, hoping he looked intimidating in the dim light, where no one could see he wasn’t superhero material.

A quiet voice echoed from the darkness. “I’m not here to rob you or hurt anyone. I hope I didn’t scare you.” The voice sounded familiar and Jax frowned, trying to place it.

“I’m not scared.” Jax gripped the poker tighter. “Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?” He let out the breath he hadn’t known he was holding and scowled, reaching down to fumble for the table lamp. He switched it on and the room flooded with warm light. Jax momentarily closed his eyes, trying to adjust to it. When he opened them, a large, blurred figure stood by the door to the hallway. It was half open and Jax guessed the man had been trying to make a clean break away from whatever he’d been doing in the house.

Jax stepped around the huddled blanket on the floor and made his way closer to the other man.

If he was going to hurt me, he’d have done it already.

“Are you going to tell me what the hell you’re doing in this house?” he demanded. Something propelled him forward; he didn’t feel nervous anymore, simply curious. As Jax got closer, he squinted at the stranger, trying to see him more clearly.

“I came to return something.” The other man’s even tone sent a shiver through Jax’s body. “Something that was taken from you that didn’t belong where it was.”

Now Jax was sure he knew the person behind the voice. It surely couldn’t be who he thought it was, could it?He moved, closing the distance until he could see more clearly. The sight that greeted his eyes took his breath away.

God, it is Dare from the mall. Crap, he’s one sexy beast. Even if he might be a serial killer.

Jax waved the poker at Dare. “What the fuck are you doing here?”

Dare huffed. “It’s a long story.” He eyed the poker dubiously. “Really, a poker? That’s your weapon of choice?”

Jax snorted. “I can clobber you with it if you try anything. Come on, dude. Tell me what the hell is going on. Are you that desperate to have coffee with me?”

Dare laughed, a little shakily. “‘Dude?’ You love that word. It’s pretty cute when you say it. And yes, I’m definitely partial to having coffee with you one way or another. But this wasn’t quite what I had planned.”

Jax blinked. His eyes felt gritty and sore and he had gunk bunging up one corner of his left eye. He reached up and rubbed it away softly. “How do you know I use the word ‘dude’ often?”

Dare gave a deep, indrawn breath. There was silence. Jax got the impression Dare had revealed something he wasn’t supposed to.

Jax grew impatient. “Are you going to tell me anything anytime soon? Because if not, I’ll call out for the owner of the house and he can call the cops, then we’ll get the story—”

“No, no police.” For the first time Dare sounded panicked. “God, you’re so damn feisty.”

Jax got the impression that wasn’t a problem for this man from his admiring tone. Jax’s groin warmed more. Now his dick was standing at half-mast and it was the last thing he needed if he did have to call on Randy.

I’m getting a hard-on for someone who broke into the house. Could shit get any weirder?

“So, what’s the story, Mr Dark and Sexy? Do you actually have one or are you just an opportunistic burglar making something up?”

The chuckle that emanated from Dare’s mouth was low, and yes, still damn sexy.

“Really? You think I’m dark and sexy?” Dare’s face twisted into a grin. “I’m flattered. You’re something yourself.”

Jax went on the offensive. “Do you always hit on people whose houses you break into? What are you, like, the Flirty Burglar or something?”

Really? This god of a man thinks I’m something? And honestly—the Flirty Burglar. Face palm.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00007]
Gabe sat on the small couch in the family room with Tristan across from him in Victor’s large black leather recliner. He took a few minutes to really look at Tristan while his attention was on the folder and stack of papers in his lap. Black hair, blue eyes and an ever present five o’clock shadow were the frame for Tristan’s handsome and expressive face. When he smiled his eyes lit up and the little laugh lines around his mouth and eyes crinkled. He carried the blend of Italian and Irish heritage in his features: fierce and commanding when he was angry or frustrated, light and beautiful when he was happy or amused. And those hands — Tristan had large hands with long, nimble fingers. Gabe wondered briefly how it would feel to walk into a room with Tristan guiding him, his hand resting in the middle of his back, laying claim with just a touch.

When Gio died, Gabe didn’t think he would ever look at another man again, much less be drawn to one. Now he was in the uncomfortable position of being drawn to two: Tristan and Micah. Both men had unknowingly played a large role in bringing Gabe back from the brink of insanity after the shooting. Now he found himself relying on them far more than he liked. Micah had been dealt a much heavier blow than Gabe by life, what with the war and the scars it left on his mind, body and soul. But he was ever-present and strong for Gabe.

Then there was Tristan. From the first time they met and Tristan challenged him to face the pain in the wake of losing his lover head on, Gabe had been not only drawn to but dependent on him. Tristan dropped the file folder on the coffee table in front of him with a loud thwack, making Gabe jump.

Release Day! Thárros by C. Kennedy is Out!

As well as being someone with a true passion for making the word a better place, and a person whom I admire and respect, Cody is also an epic story teller. His wonderfully evocative and emotional tale of Michael and Christy has brought me to tears before in the first book,  Omorphi, and I have no doubt that in Thárros, Cody will continue to do so again. And I most certainly can’t wait to re-read the first book again in preparation for the rich experience of finding out more about Michael and Christy’s journey in Thárros. (Even though I know it will lead to ugly crying.)
It’ll be worth it though.

About Cody

Cody is an award-winning author who lives, most of the time, on the West Coast of the United States. Raised on the mean streets and back lots of Hollywood by a Yoda-look-alike grandfather, Cody doesn’t conform, doesn’t fit in, is epic awkward, and lives to perfect a deep-seated oppositional defiance disorder. In a constant state of fascination with the trivial, Cody contemplates such weighty questions as If time and space are curved, then where do all the straight people come from? When not writing, Cody can be found taming waves on western shores, pondering the nutritional value of sunsets, appreciating the much-maligned dandelion, unhooking guide ropes from stanchions, and marveling at all things ordinary. Among many other awards, Omorphi was a runner up in the 2014 Rainbow Awards, and Slaying Isidore’s Dragons was a finalist in the 2015 Rainbow Awards. Cody does respond to blog comments and emails because, after all, it is all about you, the reader.

What’s going on in my life…

Typewriter

I’ve been somewhat of a busy bee lately, trying to get my head around the fact it’s already the 1st April 2016 and there’s so much going on. I’m happy, don’t get me wrong..I just need a plan. So now I’m back to focusing on the writing side of my creativity, I’m hoping to move things along and making all those things I’ve had simmering in the back ground a reality.

piZap_1459197487914Damaged Goods (book 7 Men of London) will be released on 28th April, so I’m gearing up for the release blitz, getting the ARC prepared and myriad other bits and pieces so I’m ready.

Jax and Dare will be with us soon and I’m hoping you’ll love their story. It’s a sweet, coming of age, first love tale with some bitter sweet moments.

piZap_1459197591408Hard Climate (book 8 Men of London) – this is finished and back from beta readers. It will be a potential July release. I left this story open for a potential book 9 or perhaps 10 as well…

Meet Ryan (the sexy diva in pink) and Mango -hard nosed eco-warrior. Again, a story with some laughs, some tears and a lot of fun.

20151012_155302_resized2Then I’m writing what I call my ‘circus’ book. I started writing Living on Air a while ago but it’s coming along nicely, seeing that I decided to change what I’d written from third person to first in alternating POV’s of the two MC’s. It flows much better this way and I love writing first person. I’m really getting into this story. Beware- it’s very dark, gritty and emotional and will definitely need trigger and content warnings. Oh and there are clowns too because it’s set in a circus. Sorry coulrophobics…This will not an easy bedtime read. I’m even scaring myself.

I’m also working on a stand alone M/M story based on my original M/F Starlight series. This one is set in the world of film and theatre and is the story of Dylan and Alec, who we meet in Cassandra by Starlight and Together in Starlight. This was always planned as a 3 book series to finish off the tale, but I don’t want to write another M/F story. So Dylan and Alec get their own book , and happy ending. I’ve written it, but it needs some work though to make me happy with it before it goes anywhere else. I expect this to be released sometime towards the end of this year if all goes well.

I’ve started my own business too helping other authors. We may even have our first client.  I’m also working on a bespoke software development with a friend, that I hope will again make an author’s life easier. Soon all will be fully revealed. If you can’t wait, then check out http://www.theravencrestagency.com. I’m not actively marketing this yet but enquiries are welcome.

I’m also working on a project that may or not take off, but it’s an exciting one, and one I hope gets off the ground. If it works out, it will be a lot of fun. I don’t want to say too much on this yet because there are still things to be ironed out. Sorry to keep you hanging-not …

So all in all I think I’ll be kept busy for a while. Keep me filled with coffee, muffins and good music -Adam Lambert, Troye Sivan, The Killers, Sneaker Pimps and Imagine Dragons- and I’ll be alright. Inspired even….
